7 Steps to Flawless Skin: Demystifying the Korean 7 Skins Technique

Hey guys !! As your glazed, glassy, glowy && gleaming skincare connoisseur, I want to tell you all you need to know about one of my favorite parts of the Korean beauty ritual.

The Korean 7 Skins Method

One of my favorite Korean beauty rituals that has been making waves in the beauty community is the Korean 7 Skins Method. This skincare technique, originating from South Korea, is a multi-layering hydration method that promises to deliver intense moisture and hydration to the skin. I will delve into the details of the Korean 7 Skin Method, its benefits, and how you can incorporate it into your skincare routine.

What is the Korean 7 Skins Method?

The 7 Skins Method, is a skincare technique that involves layering multiple layers of a hydrating toners and or essences to the skin. The term "skins" in this context refers to toner/essence, which is a watery liquid designed to hydrate and balance the skin's pH levels. The goal of the 7 Skins Method is to deeply hydrate and moisturize the skin, improve texture, and enhance its overall appearance.

Now before we get into all you need to know about the 7 skins method, I’m going to explain to you what an essence is.

Essence

A lightweight, water-based liquid that's applied to the skin after cleansing and toning to prepare it for other skincare products. They also are a concentrated formula that specifically targets wrinkles, fine lines, and dull and uneven skin tones.Essences can be watery or viscous, and can contain fermented, plant-derived substances or active ingredients that target specific skin concerns.

To me, essences are THE most essential product/step in your routine. You'll see more results from an essence than any other product because it treats skin on a cellular level. Korean essences typically contain an active ingredient that optimizes your skin's natural cell turnover rate

skincare tip !!

Essences are generally very watery and juicy. To avoid wasting product, transfer product into a spray bottle or apply with hands then pat in !

How to Perform the Korean 7 Skins Method

The 7 skins method gets added into your routine as your 4th step.

Step 1. Start with cleansing your skin with an oil cleanser

Step 2. Use your water based cleanser

Step 3. Exfoliate or use a rinse off mask (only 3x a week MAX)

Step 4. Pour a small amount of hydrating toner or essence onto your palms and pat into skin

Step 5. Allow the first layer to absorb into the skin before applying the next layer.

Step 6. Repeat this process for a total of 7 layers, ensuring that each layer is fully absorbed before applying the next.

Benefits of the Korean 7 Skins Method

I love love love being glazed, glassy, glowy and gleaming all day long and incorporating the 7 skins method into my routine allows me to achieve that. Not only does it give you glass skin it helps create plump and juicy skin, improves skin texture and creates smoother and more radiant skin. It also helps balance the skin's pH levels, which helps in promoting a healthy skin barrier.

How to Incorporate the Korean 7 Skins Method into Your Skincare Routine

If you're interested in trying out the Korean 7 Skin Method (you absolutely should try it), here are a few tips to keep in mind:

1. Choose a hydrating toner or essence that is suitable for your skin type.

2. Start with a patch test to ensure that your skin does not react adversely to the product.

3. Gradually increase the number of layers based on your skin's needs. You don't NEED to do to 7 layers if your skin feels adequately hydrated with fewer layers or if you feel overwhelmed by the 7 layers.

I personally layer 7 DIFFERENT toners/essences (team maximalist) but you can layer ONE toner/essence multiple times. Skincare is NOT a one size fits all process, do what feels and works best for YOU and your skin.

MAKE SURE THAT THE TONERS/ESSENCES YOU ARE LAYERING ARE NOT EXFOLIATORS !!!!
